Kerala Diaries: From Cloudy Mountains to Sunny Backwaters The Journey to the Clouds It was a sunny morning when my parents, my brother, uncle, my cousin sister, and I set off on our planned trip to Kerala. We were all so excited for the trip. My uncle and my dad took turns driving as we made the long journey from our home in Salem to the Kerala border. After getting cleared at the checkpost, we continued on. It was quite cloudy by that time, and soon we reached the mountain regions and began moving uphill. Slowly, the climate began getting colder. By the time we reached our hotel, it was a cold evening. The hotel was in a very inner area, so it took us many missed turnings and a final steep uphill road to find it! But the location was amazing. It left us in 'Awe' seeing the view of mountains covered with a "blanket of clouds...". We spent one night there before setting off again.
